5 Things You Must Know About Digestive
1. Importance of Saliva
The digestion process begins in the mouth as you chew your food. The presence of saliva in the mouth is very important since it through it that the food is moistened and finally broken down. This will allow the food to easy move down the esophagus on its way to the stomach. In the stomach the food is then completely broken down with stomach acids with the nutrients going to all the different parts of the body. This is achieved through the aid of various body organs which include the small intestines, colon, pancreas, gallbladder as well as the liver.
2.Eat right for effective digestion
Nutrition plays a major role in good digestion. When you eat wholesome foods which make up a balanced diet, you will never have any problems with your digestive system since it will be functioning smoothly. Whenever you are eating, do so in a slow manner and always avoid eating when you are feeling stressed or preoccupied. It is also important that you take time out to relax after every meal. This will allow for proper digestion.
3. Regular exercising
Exercise helps in the stimulation of the digestive system. This will then allow for a more effective food processing. However, this does not mean that you have to over exercise in order to experience these benefits. Spending about 30 minutes walking or swimming a couple of days in a week is more than enough to keep your body healthy. Yoga is also known to be a very good exercise for the stimulation of the digestive system while improving on your general health. These exercises also help to better your posture. Your abdomen, back, thighs muscles and buttocks will become stronger, thereby allowing you to sit and stand in a more upright position. This will in turn give more room to your digestive system for the purpose of processing your food in a more efficient manner.
4. Seek immediate medical attention
problems have also been known to be caused by some medical conditions. This is often caused by some medications or during pregnancy. In case you happen to be receiving medical care for a certain condition and you begin to experience changes in your bowel movements which can be anything from prolonged diarrhea, constipation, bloody stools or extreme pain and vomiting for more than three days, you should immediately call your doctor. In as much as these symptoms can actually end up clearing themselves even without treatment, they can as well be a symptom of a severe disease.
5. Natural flow
You can also care for your digestive system through natural means. This can be done by taking some herds such as ginger which is known to be a warming herb and prevents nausea. It has also been proven to ease motion and morning sickness. Peppermint is another herb and it helps in getting rid of nausea, vomiting and also ease indigestion as well as gas after a meal. This is the main reason why restaurants offer this to their clients when they are through with their meals. Aloe Vera which is known to be a bitter herb, works as a great laxative especially when taken orally.
