How to Deal With Diarrhea
Lose stools so commonly associated with diarrhea are a nuisance. The abdomen is bloated, there is a good deal of flatulence, and at times the urge to visit the restroom at the most inconvenient times - such as when you are sitting at a red light in your car or on the bus - makes this not only annoying but downright embarrassing and painful. This of course is the reason why so many consumers trying to figure out how to deal with diarrhea will find themselves in the supermarket aisle devoted to the quick cures.
To prevent digestive system disorders, the reliance on such questionable cures needs to be curtailed at all costs. Even better would be a complete avoidance since the digestive tract may become unhealthily dependent on such aides for future functioning, and before long you will experience muscle weakness in the gastrointestinal tract as well as other problems that will present with alarming frequency.
How to deal with diarrhea is really a multi step process.
1. At the onset it is vital to decide if diarrhea is an occurrence that may be traced back to the ingestion of a certain food. If so, it is wise to consider this food source suspect. Try to remember if in the past you also suffered from diarrhea when ingesting this type of food or if this appears to be a freak occurrence. The latter might point to a bacterial infection of your gut, and you may have to seek out medical treatment. The former will suggest that your digestive system is upset by something contained in the food.
2. Seek to find out if perhaps you have overindulged in a particular kind of food. This sometimes happens when consumers find a hard to find dish or tasty fruit that is finally in season. Although the latter is healthy, overdoing it will have gastrointestinal consequences.
3. Re-evaluate your vitamin supplementation. At times diarrhea is brought on by overdosing on vitamin C and if you might have done so unwittingly, it is wise to read the label of the supplements you are taking. This is especially important if you find that at times you are suffering from dark stools, which may be indicative of an overdose on iron. You may be ingesting a nutritional supplement that is not formulated for your stage in life. Ask your physician for a more appropriate product to avoid further digestive system disorders associated with unsuitable supplementation. Incidentally, if you are suffering from esophageal upset due to stomach cid reflux, overdoing on vitamin C will aggravate this condition!
As you can see, at the heart of dealing with diarrhea is the recognition that there is more to this digestive system disorder than meets the eye and by eliminating the source of the problem, you will most likely eliminate the disorder. A failure to do so will unduly tax your gastrointestinal system and this in turn has the potential to case a great deal of entirely avoidable problems down the line.
