The Key to a Healthy Body & Mind

Maintaining a healthy body and mind is the key to a good life. However, many people forget to address the health of the mind, hence why we have more mental disorders in the world today than any other time in our history. With the right combination of raw, natural whole foods and supplements, your immune system will be just as strong as your mind.

To maintain a healthy mind and immune system, you will need to eat the right foods. I know it sounds simple, but it is true and very necessary. A healthy body starts on the inside and is portrayed outward. Here are some simple things you can do to maintain and even turn around the present state of your mind and overall health.

* Eat garlic

Garlic is probably one of the greatest gifts we have ever been given. Garlic has been used for medicinal purposes in Chinese and Western cultures for centuries. Garlic's active ingredient allicin, destroys, and inhibits various bacteria and fungi from growing in the body. Therefore, garlic is antibacterial, antifungal and it is even believed to be antiviral. Garlic is known to lower the risk of heart disease, enhance the immune system, protect and detox the liver, lower blood pressure, help with an assortment of digestive disorders, and protect the bladder infections, flu and gallbladder problems.

* Chew your food

Believe it or not, chewing your food will help you absorb the nutrients you obtain from your food.

* Eat plenty fruits and veggies

You need three to five portions a day, but more is better than not enough. If you are someone that doesn't have time to sit down and eat, drink juice or take a green food supplement.

* Take an EPA Omega 3 supplement

EPA is an essential nutrient that is extracted from omega 3 fatty acids; It is known to be an important part of maintaining healthy brain functions. In fact, clinical studies have shown that fish oil can help with depression, bipolar disorder, chronic fatigue, OCD, schizophrenia and other anxiety disorders. These "good fats" are found in fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring, pilchards and sardines.

* Take echinacea

Echinacea is known for boosting immunity and for battling infections. It has antibiotic effects and is used for preventing viruses and bacteria that invade the body. Echinacea has anti-inflammatory properties as well and is used to treat arthritis and lymphatic swelling.

* Ginseng, gota kula, ginko and kava kava are other mind enhancing herbs. If you suffer from any anxiety disorder, ADHD, or have any other problems with keeping a clear mind, these are a must for your medicine cabinet!

It is very possible to maintain a healthy body; you just have to put the right fuel in it. The same goes for the mind. The mind is very touchy and very intricate. If you don't give it what it needs, it simply won't fire correctly and you are left with the problems that we are seeing in society today. If you take the time to examine the standard American diet, you will see just why people are suffering the way they are today.
