Is Your Weak PC Muscle Causing PE?
Premature ejaculation for some men is little more than a mind over matter condition that may be controlled or even reversed with relaxation techniques, meditation, and guided imagery. For others, it may be more of a physical condition, and in some cases muscles have been considered to be a root cause of this form of sexual dysfunction.
In particular the pubococcygeus muscle, commonly referred to as the PC muscle, that is found around the rectum and bladder is frequently cited as being a culprit in the incidents of PE; this is due to the fact that it is known to contract during the occasion or orgasm. A strong muscle offers a certain modicum of control over penile movement and awareness, while a weakened muscle, among other things, is thought to detract from the orgasm experience in men and thus the point in time that ejaculation becomes inevitable is reached a lot sooner in individuals with such weakened musculature.
A lot of talk has gone into strengthening the PC muscle, but is your weak PC muscle causing PE or are your attempts of curing it contributing to the problem? Even as this question cannot be decisively answered without a medical consultation, there are some facts as they pertain to the relationship between male orgasm and weakened PC muscle that are noteworthy.
First and foremost, consider the fact that an overly strong PC muscle is actually found to be contributing to premature ejaculation! Some men have apparently begun to over-exercise their PC muscles in the hopes of gaining greater control over their ejaculation, yet this constant aggravation of the muscle has led to strains as well as involuntary muscle response, thus decreasing the actual control a man has over the point of ejaculation and instead increasing an involuntary bodily response that leads to ejaculation prior to being desired.
In addition, remember that by virtue of its physical locale within your body, the pubococcygeus muscle actually surrounds the prostate which is an integral part of the male reproductive system and considered highly erogenous. As such, over-strengthening of the PC muscle will lead to a sudden manipulation of the prostate which in turn may quite possibly lead to spontaneous ejaculation rather than an avoidance of a premature release of the seminal fluid.
It has been suggested that in healthy men the use of certain exercises associated with strengthening the PC muscle is therefore detrimental, while in individuals who have a weakened muscle, there may be slight benefits. Instead, it is wise to seek medical attention to ascertain if a man's premature ejaculation is truly related to a weak PC muscle or if it is not instead due to another physical component, such as an enlarged prostate which may be unduly stimulated during sexual intercourse.
Only a proper medical exam is able to make this determination and self medicating or even the undertaking of an exercise regimen of the PC muscle without prior medical attention is strongly discouraged in that it might actually lead to the opposite effect.
