Premature Ejaculation and Anxiety
One of the most frequent causes of premature ejaculation is anxiety. Anxiety from an anxiety disorder can cause the problem or anxiety about a particular situation or general performance anxiety can all cause premature ejaculation in men. Anxiety over life, relationships, work, family, school, or other factors is often a cause of premature ejaculation for men.
Men who suffer from anxiety disorders that can become debilitating or can interfere with normal daily activities often have trouble with premature ejaculation brought on by their general anxiety. If your anxiety is so bad that it interferes with your life and causes long term problems with premature ejaculation then you should consider seeking the advice of a doctor. A doctor may be able to prescribe medication that will lessen your anxiety and make it easier for you to relax. Medication that relieves anxiety can also eliminate the problem of premature ejaculation by eliminating the cause of the premature ejaculation, the anxiety.
Be careful though. Some of the drugs prescribed to treat anxiety or other disorders can cause premature ejaculation in men who previously didn't have a problem with it. So talk to your doctor carefully about medications to treat your anxiety and choose one that doesn't have premature ejaculation as a possible side effect. Once you start taking a drug to combat anxiety make sure to watch for any side effect very carefully. You will know fairly quickly if your premature ejaculation trouble increases or decreases while on the drug. If it increases then you should go back to your doctor and talk about other possible treatments for your anxiety to make sure that you don't develop long term premature ejaculation.
If your anxiety isn't strong enough that you need medication to control it, or if it's just related to a particular circumstance in your life then you should not worry too much about having premature ejaculation. It will probably pass as soon as your anxiety level goes down. However you should talk to your partner and explain the situation so that your partner knows what is going on and why you are suddenly having premature ejaculation problems.
After you have talked to your partner you should try to take steps to lessen your anxiety. Practice some relaxation therapies like meditation. Read some self-help books that give suggestions on how to control anxiety. There are lots of ways that you can work on controlling your anxiety everyday without using drugs. Self therapy can be a good way to control anxiety and lessen premature ejaculation that is brought on by a temporary anxiety-filled situation like when you have a big review coming up at work or a big final at school.
Relaxation techniques can also help you practice ejaculatory control which can eliminate premature ejaculation. During normal times when you are not so anxious or stressed you may not need to practice ejaculatory control in order to avoid premature ejaculation but during times of stress or anxiety you can use some ejaculatory control techniques to prevent premature ejaculation.
