Self-Treatment for PE - Meditation
Premature ejaculation may be the butt of more raucous jokes around the water cooler in all male work environments, but truth be told, this jocularity more often than not does little more than provide a thin veneer of comfort over a condition that is thought to affect a quarter to half of the male population at one point in time. No cause for hilarity, PE is known to be a common sexual dysfunction that frequently has serious adverse effects on a man's sense of self worth and self esteem, his perceived ability to fulfill his partner's sexual needs, and of course his overall image of being considered virile.
While the list of alleged cures is seemingly endless, many a man is rather hesitant to visit a bona fide physician to discuss this issue and instead will opt for herbs or self treatment for PE via relaxation techniques, guided imagery, and also meditation. It is the latter that has lately come under fire for its allegedly less than suitable nature to counteract the problem associated with PE.
Citing online sources that seek to teach men to meditate with an eye on connecting certain states of arousal with unfavorable thoughts in an effort to distract the body from impending ejaculation simply by picturing something considered a turn-off, those studying the problem of sexual dysfunction voice their concerns that this kind of medication is contributory to enhancing negative attitudes toward sexual encounters in the minds of men. In addition to the foregoing, contemplating the cat's litter box while seeking to forge a deeper bond with one's mate does precious little to fulfill that function of the sex act, and thus it is not only the man who will feel cheated by the experience, but also his partner.
Add to this the fact that the reduction of arousal does precious little to actually gain control over premature ejaculation and instead simply distracts the man from the act itself, thus manipulating emotional and psychological awareness as opposed to physical sensation, meditation has been blamed for causing the flipside of PE: erectile dysfunction.
On the other side of the discussion are those who assert that those suffering from premature ejaculation greatly benefit from meditation as a safe form of self treatment because it goes hand in hand with relaxation techniques that may be utilized in an effort to overcome the stress associated with suffering from PE but also by gaining some impulse control. The latter is a workable solution if it is incorporated in a scientifically developed framework that does not simply pair negative imagery with sexual performance and also takes into account that the goal of impulse control is to have power over the point in time that ejaculation is considered imminent and no longer falls under the auspices of voluntary act versus simply distracting body and mind from the activity at hand.
First learning basic meditation techniques and then focusing them on PE is considered the most advantageous methodology of dealing with this form of sexual dysfunction.
