Talking to Your Partner about Premature Ejaculation
It's important to talk to your partner about the problems that you're having with premature ejaculation. Talking about premature ejaculation can be hard, but your partner deserves to know about the problems that you're having. Talking to your partner can also help your relationship. If your partner doesn't know about the problem then your partner may get angry about your premature ejaculation or think that it's their fault. If your partner thinks that they are responsible for your problems with premature ejaculation it can damage the relationship. The relationship might even end all together and that would be terrible. So considering that your relationship might be stake isn't it worth the embarrassment to sit down and talk to your partner about your premature ejaculation?
When you do want to talk to your partner about your problems with premature ejaculation it's important that you pick the right setting. Your partner may not be comfortable sitting and talking about your sex life and premature ejaculation in a crowded restaurant, for example. But you should have the discussion in a quiet place free from distraction. If you want to have the discussion about your premature ejaculation at someplace other than your home pick a quiet café or a park where you can sit and talk freely.
If you do decide to have the discussion about premature ejaculation with your partner at home then turn off the phone and the computer, and turn all the cell phones off. Sit in the kitchen or a room away from the TV so you can really focus on each other. When you bring up the subject make sure you never blame your partner for your premature ejaculation. Ask your partner about their feelings about the premature ejaculation. If you can print out some information about premature ejaculation beforehand so that your partner can read about all the different causes for premature ejaculation. That will help your partner to feel like it isn't their fault.
Sometimes you will feel defensive or embarrassed when talking about premature ejaculation with your partner but you shouldn't feel defensive or embarrassed. Premature ejaculation is a problem that happens to all men at some point or another and it's nothing to be ashamed of. But you should also never blame your partner for your premature ejaculation. Together the two of you need to find a way to deal with your premature ejaculation so you shouldn't alienate your partner by blaming him or her.
Instead of blaming your partner keep the discussion positive and try to find ways that you can work together to end your premature ejaculations. There are lots of over the counter remedies you can try to de-sensitize your penis and there are other techniques and devices you can try to make your sexual experience last longer. Talk to your partner about his or her expectations for sex and how long your partner would like you to last. Clarifying each of your expectations about sex and talking together about ways to provide a fulfilling sexual experience for you and your partner is a helpful and constructive way to deal with premature ejaculation within a relationship.
