Different types of vegetarianism

The vegetarian lifestyle is appealing to many different people; it is more environmentally friendly than a meat-eating diet, it can be better for your health and it helps to encourage the ethical treatment of animals. There are many different types of vegetarian diets that you may choose to take part in, and it can be difficult to understand all of them since there are so many of them out there. In this article, we'll be giving you a basic overview of some of the specific types of vegetarian diets that are more common so that you can get a good idea of what type of diet will be the best for you to endulge in.

One specific type of vegetarianism is known as fruitarianism. Frutarianists choose to eat only fruits that don't kill the plant that they are created by when plucked in order to decrease the amount of life that is lost due to an individual's diet. Some people choose to become fruitarian due to dietary reasons, while others feel that it is the right things to do in terms of respecting the life of both plants and animals.

The vegan diet is a specific type of vegetarian diet that stresses that an individual should not only abstain from eating the meat of animals, but also to avoid eating foods that are produced by animals. This includes eggs, milk, dairy products, and other similar products that are created by animals. There are many products that vegans shun due to the presence of animal ingredients, which can make it a difficult diet to follow; common foods such as gelatin, cheese, and certain types of sugar are banned by the more strict vegans. Again, some people choose to become vegan for health reasons while others simply want to do their part to avoid the suffering of animal life.

Pescetarianism is another type of vegetarian-like diet that many people choose to involve themselves in. In a pescetarianist diet, an individual eats only fruits and vegetables, with one notable exception; the only types of meats consumed by a pescetarian are fish and other seafoods. Pollotarianism is a type of diet that is similar to pescetarianism, as this is a type of diet in which an individual only consumes poultry in terms of meat.

The macrobiotic diet is a different type of diet that is very similar to vegetarianism but has its differences. Those who follow the macrobiotic diet tend to have a diet that is based firmly around a base of whole grains and beans while allowing the consumption of fish.

These are just a few of the dietary options that you may want to consider when you are deciding exactly what type of lifestyle is right for you. Whenever you make any significant dietary changes, you should remember to do all the research that you can in order to ensure that your new diet will be able to fulfill the nutritional needs of your body without supplementation. Best of luck to you!
