Zone Diet Tries to Transition from Celebrities to Everyday Americans
There is no doubt that the Zone diet works. Hollywood celebrities like Jennifer Aniston have become shining examples that attest to the healthy opportunities this specific diet affords to those who will follow its precepts and the books explaining the tenets of the diet are plentiful. Yet when you observe how the Zone diet tries to transition from celebrities to everyday Americans, it becomes obvious rather quickly that the majority of believers have a hard time making this diet an everyday lifestyle.
Sure, there are now restaurants that offer specific meals that are approved as being part of the Zone diet, and the freezer section of the local grocery store displays many different frozen meals that are Zone friendly, but in spite of Zone diet bars, prepackaged frozen dinners, and even lunch packs, there still seems to be somewhat of a hard time experienced by dieters who want to shed the pounds and be as healthy as the Hollywood celebrities making good use of this diet.
The idea behind the diet is actually quite simple: food is used to optimize the human body's hormonal and blood sugar responses, resulting in a weight loss and the maintaining of a healthy body weight. The goal is to keep the food choices made every day as balanced as possible and the formula for success relies on 40% of carbohydrates to be paired with 30% of fat and protein each at every meal. There are no forbidden food choices, such as there are in the Atkins diet, and this is supposed to make dieting a lot easier, yet it fails to deliver on this point.
Take for example the fact that balancing out carbohydrates and proteins to keep each meal in the zone is a feat very hard to do without help. Sure, there are the prepackaged meals you can buy at the supermarket, but over time they get very expensive. The same is true for home food delivery companies that promise to put together special Zone diet meals and will set you up for success simply by preparing and prepackaging the meals. Hollywood celebrities have their chefs who can help them adhere to the Zone diet even when on the set of a movie, while real life Americans stuck in a long meeting do not have the luxury of finding a Zone friendly snack in the company fridge.
As the Zone diet tries to transition from celebrities to everyday Americans, the websites devoted to the creation and sharing of specific recipes and shopping lists is mushrooming and so there are tools available for those wanting to give the diet a try. Some diet hoppers find that they suddenly are working on an Adkins type diet because they have become so fearful of overdosing on carbohydrates that they cut back to such an extent as to find that they are more readily fulfilling the Adkins diet precepts than the Zone diet balance. Others become concerned because the diet is known to be a quintessential low calorie diet and these diets are notoriously hard to keep up over prolonged periods of time.
