Cosmetic Procedures and surgeries to the face and head

There are many cosmetic procedures and surgeries that can be performed upon the head or face including chin and cheek augmentation, ear surgery, eyelid surgery, facelift, facial implants, forehead lift, hair transplantation, lip augmentation, and also nose reshaping.

Chin augmentation is also called genioplasty or mentoplasty and is done to correct receding chin or to make cheekbones fuller. Facial implants may be used during the procedure or fat injections may be used.

Ear surgeries are done to improve the shape or position of the ears and can be done to reduce the size of the ears. Children are recommended to have ear surgery when they reach the age when ear development is done, which is typically around age five or six. The ear cartilage is reshaped in order to re-position the ears closer to the head.

Eyelid surgery also called blepharoplasty is done on adults of all ages to correct signs of aging. Good candidates for eyelid surgery are those who have excess skin obscuring vision, or when a puffy appearance of the upper eyelids makes the individual appear tired all the time, or when bags or dark circles are always present under the eyes. Droopiness of the lower eyelids is also a reason for eyelid surgery.

A facelift can restore smoother, more pleasing contours to your neck and face and can help you to look and feel younger.

You are a good candidate for a facelift if you have deep lines, folds, around your mouth, or nose. You experience jowls, or a loss of a well-defined jaw line, or if you have deep wrinkles in the cheeks and also have a sagging area of the cheekbones.

Facial implants are used to augment, reconstruct or rejuvenate your face. Facial implants generally take 1 to 2 hours to complete and require a week of healing. Results are generally permanent.

A forehead lift is a cosmetic procedure that corrects the signs of aging including deep frown lines that can occur from being overly stressed or from overactivity of muscles. You are a good candidate for a forehead lift if you have sagging or low position of the eyebrows, have a tired or sad appearance even if you are neither tired nor sad. If you have deep creases across your forehead, have furrows or lines between the eyebrows and across the top of your nose or have frown lines you are a good candidate for forehead lift.

Hair transplantation is done for those who are adversely affected by hair loss. The procedure is permanent and can restore a natural, youthful look. This procedure is less expensive than other hair-loss treatments.

Lip augmentation is done to create fuller, plumper lips, and to reduce fine wrinkles around the mouth. The lips are usually injected with collagen or with fat that has been transferred from another site on the body.

Another name for nose reshaping is rhinoplasty. This surgery is done to correct imperfections of the nose including noses that are too big, or that have bumps on them, noses that are too big for the facial features, or a nose that the tip is thickened or enlarged, or when your nostrils are excessively flared. It can also correct a crooked nose, or one that is off-center due to injury.
