What You Should Know About Liposuction
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that removes excess fat deposits located between the skin and the muscle. Liposuction improves your body contour.
There are several liposuction techniques including tumescent, super wet technique, ultrasonic assisted, dry technique, wet technique, power assisted, and liposuction (UAL).
There are many areas of the body where individuals have liposuction including the abdomen, the anterior thighs, the arms, back, breasts of both the female and male, the buttocks, the face and neck, males have liposuction done on their flanks, others also have liposuction done on their inner thighs, legs and ankles, and on their outer thighs.
Like all surgeries there are complications that can occur including excessive bleeding, risk associated with anesthesia, thromboembolism, excessive swelling and bruising.
Your doctor will do all that is possible to do to insure that all precautions will be taken to minimize or avoid all complications from surgery.
There are several factors that determine the cost of liposuction including surgeon fees, hospital or surgical clinic fees, anesthesia fees, and expenses for related items such as the elastic compression garments.
Liposuction is a popular cosmetic surgery for celebrities in fact of those celebrities who have had liposuction many have had it multiple times. Celebrities who are reported to have had liposuction include Cher, Demi Moore, and Roseanne Barr.
Liposuction is usually carried out under local anesthesia, which doesn't carry as much risk as general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the area that needs work and inserts a narrow tube called a cannula under your skin. A vacuum is then used to suck out excess fatty deposits.
Normal side effects of liposuction is bruising, and swelling which go away within one to two weeks. Any cosmetic surgery carries with it the risk of infection, which can be minimized by using sterile conditions.
Risks involved with liposuction include organ puncture, tissue damage, irregular skin contour or an uneven shape and thromboembolism including pulmonary embolism, which can cause sudden death (rare).
Maintaining constant weight is important when it comes to keeping the results of your cosmetic surgery. As long as your weight is constant the results should be permanent.
Liposuction although relatively quick still carries all of the risks associated with having surgery including infection.
Liposuction should not be viewed as a weight loss solution. Diet and exercise is the best way to lose and to maintain your ideal weight for your height.
