Have Faith - A Heart Disease Success Story
With millions dying every year from heart disease it is hard to think there are many success stories out there of people who have suffered from severe heart disease. Can their be many people who have managed to stare death in the eye before making a swift recovery, yes there is as this story will show.
One day a man in his early fifties returned home from his job as a barber, which he loved very much, and complained to his wife about the indigestion he was feeling. His wife said "don't worry love it will pass", a few days past and it was still there, a week passed and still the indigestion was there.
Because the feeling didn't pass the man visited his doctor who referred him straight to the hospital. Once at the hospital they carried out tests to find out what was happening, it didn't take long for them to realize the man had been suffering with a form of heart disease for a while and had suffered a heart attack.
The mans world came crushing down around him, how could he have had a heart attack, he thought he was healthy and looked after his body. The doctors came back with the worst-case scenario, he had to go into surgery and have a triple heart bypass.
A triple heart bypass means the man had three blocked arteries and with the wonders of medicine, the surgeons were able to bypass the blocked areas by sewing in three new pieces of blood vessel to act as a bridge.
The man slowly made a miraculous recovery and returned back to a nearly normal life, he just had to be a bit more careful what he did for a while. After a couple of years the man decided he wanted to make some money for a heart charity, it took a long time thinking long and hard about what he could do to raise a good quantity before he realized, he was going to run a marathon.
When the big day arrived the man got ready at the starting line and set off with the rest of the pack to complete the huge task in front of him. Within six hours he had achieved his goal, which for anyone's standards was a mean feat but being in his early fifties and having a triple bypass this was an amazing result.
Many years have gone by since these days and it is with great happiness we can report that he is still living well and watching his two children grow up.
This story may sound far-fetched but it is actually a true story of one mans struggle to beat the ravages of heart disease and lead a normal life.
If you live well and stay happy there is no reason why you cannot live a full life after falling victim to heart disease. Studies have shown that depression tends to run highly with people who have suffered with heart disease; the problem is that depression adds more stress to the body, which it doesn't need especially after such an ordeal as heart disease.
