5 Things You Must Know About Hepatitis

1.Different types of hepatitis

There are several different hepatitis types and all of them are caused by different viruses.

The most common types today are A,B and C ,all of them cause liver problems that can sometimes be really serious.

A is not so serious as B and C but it also can be a threat to the health. This virus is usually transmitted through contaminated food or water.

B is transmitted through sexual contact or through contact with infected person's blood.

Type C is the one that is transmitted through blood and can lead to the liver cirrhosis after few years.

2.Risk for everyone

There are some groups of people that have better chances of getting this virus but it is a risk for everyone.

People that have unprotected sex with many different partners increase their chances of getting infected and spreading the virus to the others.

Also traveling to the countries with high percentage of hepatitis infected people increases the chance of getting this virus.

Usually drug users are the most endangered group of people because hepatitis B and C are transmitted through blood making them a perfect target of the infection.

People that work in the hospitals and have contacts with those that have hepatitis can also become infected.

3.Prevention and protection

There are some possibilities and ways how to protect ourselves from this virus. It is very important to wash hands after bathroom usage.

Those that should be very careful when it comes to prevention are the people that work in the health care. They are well educated about this virus and responsible to do everything they can to prevent infections.

Another thing that can be done is to take care that the partner you're having sex with does not have hepatitis, and if he does it is important to use protection.

4.Diagnose

Diagnosing a hepatitis infection is done in the clinic,it is very accurate blood test.

The problem with the hepatitis are the symptoms that usually lead people to think it is something else, and never go the doctor to get a professional diagnose.

The symptoms can be very mild like fever, itchy skin and nausea, all these symptoms make people think they have a flu, but when the things complicate with abdominal pain, vomiting and weight loss it is a sign to seek professional help.

It is important to do test every few years because symptoms do not always show the infection.

5.Possible treatments

At the first signs of hepatitis it is important to visit doctor as soon as possible not only because of receiving treatment but to avoid spreading it to the others.

Each type of hepatitis virus is treated with different medications,it is important to avoid any liver damage.

With constant improvement of the medications this virus can be controlled, the sooner someone finds out he or she is infected there are better chances to control this virus.

One of the most important thing to do when someone is infected is to avoid drinking alcohol because it can significantly hurt liver in the combination with this virus.
