Impotence Cures through Alternative Medicines

A lot of men suffer with the inability to gain an erection; this is called impotence or erectile dysfunction. There are many mainstream medicines that can alleviate the problem of impotence but there are also a lot of alternative medicines that claim to cure impotence.

Many of the alternative remedies that claim to cure or help alleviate erectile dysfunction are listed below.

Suma

Suma is a vine that is native to south and Central America; the vine is quite large and is traditionally used to increase health and longevity. It is believed that Suma helps people adapt to stress, which is one of the common factors of having erection difficulties.

Saw Palmetto

Saw Palmetto is a creeping palm that can be found in the southern parts of the United States. It is believed that Saw Palmetto, when mixed with other herbs can help impotence and is used in the treatment of prostate problems.

Gingko Biloba

Gingko Biloba is extracted from the leaves of maidenhair trees, one of the oldest species of tree left on the planet. Gingko Biloba has the ability to widen blood vessels helping improve blood circulation around the body, including the penis. There are warnings attributed to taking Gingko Biloba, it can have adverse affects in those who suffer from diabetes or epilepsy.

Yohimbe

Yohimbe is the bark from the yohimbe tree und in West Africa; the bark has been used for many years as a traditional aphrodisiac. Yohimbe, it is believed, increases the blood flow to the penis and increases libido. Yohimbe is a natural treatment that has to be used with caution as to much can be toxic causing dizziness, fatigue, hallucinations and even paralysis in extreme cases.

Damiana

A herb found in Mexico the Damiana is traditionally used as an aphrodisiac. In small doses Damiana appears safe and has mild effects but in large doses it can be dangerous as it has small amounts of a compound very much like Cyanide.

Ginseng

Korean red ginseng can help improve the ability to maintain an erection if taken over a period of 8 to 12 weeks. Studies on this herb in Korea claim that in a blind test 60% of the men recorded improved erections. The belief is that Korean red ginseng contains a substance that helps widen blood vessels although researchers say they did not see any improvement in the blood flow to any of the test subjects.

Summary

As no scientific research with hard evidence has been made available about a lot of these alternative remedies users have to be careful in deciding to use them as a source of medication. If used incorrectly these alternative medicines could have detrimental affects to your health.

Should you decide to use any of the alternative medicines on the market, make sure you research them fully so you have an understanding of what the positives and negatives are. If you carry out your research properly then you will have full awareness of what the possible side affects may be.
