Losing Weight with a Fat Burning Metabolism
Weight loss depends on your body's ability to reach and burn fat deposits that have formed in various portions of the body. It is a well known fact that the body's metabolism is intricately connected to fat burning, and it logically follows that an increased metabolism translates into fat burning at a much higher rate; thus, losing weight takes place at a more rapid pace. It is not accident that virtually any of the dietary supplements and herb based diet pills seek to ingratiate themselves to the consumer by suggesting that they alone have the power to supercharge or increase the metabolism to burn fat at lightening fast speed.
Some ads even suggest that consumers who take their weight loss pills can lose weight without exercise, while kicking back, and even while sleeping. Does this sound too good to be true? Losing weight with a fat burning metabolism that gets a bit of help from herbal remedies may work, but only if you understand how your metabolism works.
* The metabolism never sleeps, never shuts down, and operates night and day. It is charged with the synthesis of bodily produced substances, regulates the hormonal levels in the body, ensures that all bodily functions are running at the speed they are intended to, and more or less keeps the body alive. This requires a lot of fuel, which the body takes in the form of fat.
* When there is an overage of fat, the only way to reduce this fuel storage is to get the metabolism to use it up. Yet how can a mechanism that already runs uninterrupted on a 24/7 basis use up any more of the fuel? The answer is simple: increase the metabolism.
* In the short run, the metabolism can get kicked into higher gear simply by employing exercise. It matters little which recreational activity is chosen, as long as it elevates the level at which the metabolism is running. Since it takes the metabolism a little while to get back to its customary level of operation, exercise will yield an elevated metabolism even after the actual recreational activity has been suspended.
* It is therefore technically true that you have the ability to burn fat even while you sleep - but only for a short time.
* Generally speaking, a healthy man's metabolism is higher than that of a healthy woman. It is therefore easier for men to lose weight than for women. Nonetheless, with exercise in play, both genders have a fair chance at losing weight.
* Another determinant that dictates how much fat is actually being burned by the metabolism is the muscle to fat ratio. It orders the fuel handling the body does and also determines the preservation of fat storage.
* A metabolism that is not running at high velocity preserves more fat than a high gear metabolism.
Keep in mind that losing weight by manipulating the metabolism may in cases be hampered by genetics, which do have a certain influence on a body's metabolism. Nonetheless, with sufficient exercise it is entirely possible to kick start even a slow metabolism to turn into a fat burning machine.
