Losing Weight with Weight Watchers
Many people have used the Weight Watchers Program to lose weight successfully for decades. In fact, many Americans think of Weight Watchers when they think of weight loss diets. Weight watchers has a point system that assigns a certain number of points to different foods based on the caloric content, fiber content, fat, and serving size. Dieters on the program have a maximum point range that they need to stay within each day in order to lose weight.
Weight Watchers is popular because there are many advantages to the program including that the point system makes the program easy to follow and is easier than trying to figure out and count calories. The program is a healthy nutritious food program that also includes exercise. Dieters have support from other dieters. Many nutritionists because of its balanced approach to food endorse the Weight Watchers diet. There are no food bans in the Weight Watcher Program as long as you follow your point allowance for the day. You have the option of buying prepackaged Weight Watchers food at the grocers, which makes the program extremely convenient and cost effective.
Weight Watchers is made easier to use and more available by being endorsed by a restaurant chain in the U.S. called, Applebee's. The restaurant carries several Weight Watcher's entrees on the menu such as the tortilla chicken melt, the onion soup au gratin, and even chocolate raspberry layer cake. You can even find Weight Watcher's program online showing point values for several fast foods.
Sarah Ferguson has promoted Weight Watchers and has lost a lot of weight using the program, which helps sell the program because many women look up to and appreciate celebrity endorsements especially when it comes to weight loss.
Unfortunately for the majority of people who use the program, they average only a 6 pound weight loss and only approximately 5% of dieters maintain that weight loss over a five year period of time using the Weight Loss System.
Another disadvantage of the Weight Watchers program is that it is expensive to use in addition to a required registration fee, and usually another additional weekly fee you pay at the weekly meetings. Because the system is set up on points, once you leave the program you may have difficulty maintaining the weight loss because you have not been taught how to eat in a healthy manner just how to use points to determine what to eat, when the points are gone, the individual is unsure what to eat. Most become discouraged when they don't lose weight in the first few weeks.
Weight Watchers is not advertising their new momentum program, which is promoted as not being a diet but a healthy way to live. On the Weight Watcher's Website, which you can find at http://www.weightwatcher.com, you will find links to how the program works, food and recipes, fitness and health, success stories, community forums, and a marketplace where you will find Weight Watchers products such as the food, the magazine, books, and scales.
