5 Things You Must Know About Meditation
1) What is meditation?
There are a plenty of spiritual gurus with varied views about meditation. Sri Sri Ravishankar says that allow anything that comes to you. Don't restrict anything. Deepak Chopra the American Indian spiritual guru believes more in sounds and mantras for meditation, but the point at which both of them agree is meditation is all about being with oneself. is the time we spend being with yourself, reflecting over all the thoughts that come to you. It is very similar to standing in front of a mirror but here, you are peeping through your conscience. It is said that when you sink in your meditation you get close to God. In fact when people go deeper meditating, they are closer to themselves. Hence, meditation is more of a process of self analysis. In this fast flowing world where we currently reside we cannot extract time for ourselves away from our professional and even personal lives. A scheduled time spares us the period where we can reflect upon and caress ourselves
2) Processes of meditation
As the definition varies according different teachers of meditation, so does the procedure. Sri Ravishanker introduces the methodology of "sudarshan kriya" which is a series of breathing postures and hence relies a lot on the respiratory system. On the other hand Deepak relies a lot on mantras and audio systems. Researches on these methods suggest that all of them are completely scientific methods and none of them show any side effects. Taking the method of Ravi Shankar for example it acts on a vice-versa theory. As our breathing accelerates when we are angry and we gasp when we are tired or depressed the vice-versa also does exist. Hence, a series of breathing postures have been advised by the organization which allow us to maintain a specific level of respiratory actions that help us maintain a level of pacification in our circulatory system.
3) Discipline with meditation:
Even after ignoring all spiritual aspects of meditation it still features a lot in bringing a sense of stability and discipline in life. A regular schedule which includes meditation organizes our daily life bringing us close to our inner self and contributes in our holistic development. Ninjas, the great warriors from Japan, have been believed to be meditating in order to gain perfection in the art of their infallible warfare.
4) Health issues:
Few very common diseases which exist irrespective of the individual are blood pressure and diabetes. Doctors believe that it is a problem originating from common tensions people suffer during daily lives. in daily routine can solve such problems with ease. Some breathing postures and chanting a few mantras if reduce such life threatening deformities then a minor time dedication should not be hassle to people. Our ancestors used to have genuine life longevity which has depreciated with time. These ancient techniques can help us revive the similar long life and happiness.
5) Stress relief and peace of mind:
Yoga and spiritual gurus have been claiming this for a long time that meditation works as a tranquilizer and helps reducing our physical and mental stress and subsequently, a perfect peace of mind is achieved.
