5 Things You Must Know About Metabolism

Here are the top 5 things you must know about metabolism and how to boost up your metabolism:

1. Increase your water intake.

As we all know, water is life and water has it all! An increase in your water intake can help a lot to boost your metabolism. The human body is made up of 75 percent water. A person who does not properly hydrate himself can greatly affect his or her metabolism. The liver normally functions and works on burning fat within our system, but if the body system is dehydrated, instead of working on burning fats, the liver will then start on working to retain water if our body really needs it. An average person should consume 3 liters of fluids every day to maintain proper metabolism and to use it to lose body weight. A person can actually gain 2 liters of water per day by eating normally, this is because most of our food now contains water on it.

2. Eat more often and NEVER skip meals.

In order to boost your metabolism naturally and to make it function normally, one should never skip a meal specially the first meal of the day. One should always bare in mind that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and is the healthiest meal for our body. One can get great rewards when he or she is able to maintain a healthy and a good breakfast. Each day is consist of three main meals and that habit should not be broken as possible. The more often you eat sensible meals, the more a person can rev up his or her metabolic furnace. To increase metabolism, a person should stay away from heavy meals and should eat five to six smaller healthy meals throughout the day.

3. Be aware of your basal metabolic rate.

The term basal metabolic rate refers to the amount of calories that you burn when you're at rest. To increase one's BMR or basal metabolic rate, a person must stock their bodies with more lean muscle tissue and have less fatty tissue in their system. This is because muscle burns more calories at rest than fat. It will never hurt you to consult your doctor and find out on the accurate and proper BMR.

4. Maintain proper exercise.

Exercise does not need to be expensive. In fact, you can do regular exercises without spending any cent for the gym. What you only need is the time and the discipline for it. Despite your tight daily schedule, you should always have time to find at least 30 minutes of the day to do some exercise. A simple walk in the park, and a little jog would be nice. You can also do exercise by taking the stairs instead of taking the elevator. These are simple things to do but can be of great help for you and your health. So start slowly with these lifestyle changes and maintain the discipline to continue on what you have started.

5. Deal with your stress.

Stress can also affect your metabolism. If a person can properly manage his or her stress, this will eventually result to improving and boosting one's metabolism naturally. There are many several issues that stress can strike in a person's life. All you need to do is to deal will all your stress and start living a healthier lifestyle.

And that sums up the 5 things you must know about metabolism.
