Why is it Important to Diagnosis Sleep Disorders?

Individuals who have sleep disorders lack restorative rest and because they are not getting enough sleep they become sleepy during the day and have impaired function at work, and while driving that can cause accidents that may harm themselves or others. Lack of sleep also causes confusion, lack of memory, a general feeling of being "disconnected" and unfocused. It is important that individuals who have sleep disorders be diagnosed and treated if possible so that they can function better with the result being fewer accidents.

Every adult requires 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep every night in order to feel well rested and alert during the daytime. Proper restorative sleep is required for optimal mental and physical health just ask any mom who has a newborn at home. Those who are sleep deprived are more likely to make mistakes, to be confused, and to feel disoriented. Each year over 40 million Americans alone, will suffer from some type of sleep disorder, many of those will not be diagnosed by a medical professional because of ignoring the problem, self-diagnosing with over-the-counter sleep aids or who try to explain away the problem and blame other things. Individuals who receive proper testing can be diagnosed and receive treatment so that their sleep disorder can be managed and they can function better.

It is important that individuals who themselves are experiencing the following symptoms or if you notice someone else with these symptoms that the individual receive medical evaluation before they are injured or cause someone else to be injured.
