Sleep Well With Osteopathy
Is there anything worse than having to get up in the morning but not being able to sleep a wink? It is not the music blaring from the neighbor's apartment of your little one putting up a fuss; instead it is your body that simply does not seem to be able to find that comfortable position that would enable to get some sleep. This of course has given rise to the multibillion dollar industry which currently sells sleep aids over the counter or via prescription.
Fortunately, sufferers from a lack of winks can finally sleep well with osteopathy! Here is how:
* Capitalize on the whole body approach the osteopath takes when it comes to examining you. Discuss your caloric intake, the kinds of foods you favor throughout the day and do not forget to mention the kinds of beverage you drink throughout the day and the evening as well. You may be surprised to learn that your doctor of osteopathy (D.O.) will discuss your nutritional intake with you in exhaustive detail. Of course, when you realize that you were unwittingly introducing substances into your body that made it virtually impossible to get a good night's sleep, this kind of medical attention only makes sense.
* You D.O.'s questions with respect to the setup of your bedroom are not a mistaken form of interior décor affinity but instead a very real and important aspect of the diagnostic process. Did you know that there are some colors that make it hard for your body to fall asleep? Additionally, did you know that even temperature and scents may help your body to either give in to sleep or cling to wakefulness?
* Accept your D.O.s exercise recommendations. If your body has not worked off the energy you fed it, your body might have a hard time letting go and drifting off to sleep. Conversely, exercising too close to bedtime might have exactly the opposite effect, since the very act of exercise releases powerful stimulants into the bodily systems that may then keep you awake.
* A huge chunk of time your D.O. will spend with you also has to do with the mattress you currently own and the way it support the curvature of your spine. Many bedrooms contain mattresses that are old, a hand-me-down from a time gone by, and overall have already overstayed their useful lives. They may be stiff, lumpy, sagging in spots, and actually serve to compress your spine in such a manner as leave you in abject pain when you wake up in the mornings. The body will seek to protect itself against this pain and in so doing most likely keep you awake. Do not skimp on a decent mattress and then squander your savings on sleep aids!
It is noteworthy that these kinds of discussions usually take place in the office of a D.O. but rarely in the office of a M.D. If you are ready to sleep well with osteopathy and without artificial sleep aids, this is perhaps your best bet.
