5 Things You Must Know About Stretchmarks
1. The use of moisturizing creams that are rich in vitamin E and A is only good for stretch marks when you apply them as soon as possible. Do not wait for too long before you start using this to get rid of stretch marks because even the best creams cannot get the job done. Thus, it is advisable that you apply these creams immediately after you have seen the signs of stretch marks develop on certain parts of your body. When buying a cream to treat your scars, make sure to check whether it is manufactured for mild or deep marks. Choose the type of cream to use according to the extent of your stretch mark problem.
2. Stretch marks can occur in any area of the body. There is a common misconception that stretch marks can only appear around the tummy area and that only women can experience them! In reality, men and women are prone to suffering from stretch mark in different areas of the body including the thighs, abdominal section, lower back, hips, and lower back. The reasons for these scars to show can range from high body mass index and childbirth (for women). If you want to prevent having to deal with these stubborn marks, it is best to prevent them and learn about its causes.
3. There are several types of cures for stretch marks; hence, do not limit yourself to creams and lotions. Some health experts believe that AHA or any product containing alpha hydroxy acid offer the best treatment against stretch marks. This compound is known to produce an exfoliating effect on the skin. You have to apply a considerable amount of the AHA product onto your skin using a massaging action to ensure that it is completely absorbed. Aside from creating an exfoliating effect on the skin, it also helps to rejuvenate it by removing dead skin cells. You can not only expect the stretch marks to be gone but also leave your skin looking younger.
4. Improve your lifestyle. This is a cheap and effective way to fight off stretch marks. You can start by taking care of your weight because obesity is one of the leading causes of stretch marks. When you increase your body mass, it will cause your skin to be stretched and your marks become more prominent that way. You need to have a balanced diet and couple that with regular exercise. Make an effort to adapt a healthy lifestyle. This is recommended not only for treatment of stretch marks but is also good for prevention.
5. Despite the large volume of products that claim to eliminate stretch marks, there are some scars that are too stubborn to be treated. Thus, prevention is still better than cure. You need take extra measures to ensure that you can prevent stretch marks before they happen. One technique is to keep your skin hydrated. Drink at least 64 ounces of water per day. You must also consume foods rich in vitamin E, protein, zinc, and vitamin C to keep your skin nourished.
